What a sponsored slot is
You can buy one labelled box at the top of a page. You cannot buy a position in the listings, because the listings have no positions for sale.
What you get
One slot on one page — a town, a category, or a single town-and-category page. Your name, what you do, a couple of sentences in your own words, and your phone number, in a box above the listings. It carries the word Sponsored and a line saying you paid for it, because a reader deserves to know which is which without having to work it out.
One slot per page. Never two, never a carousel.
What it does not do
It does not move anybody. The list underneath is exactly the list that would be there if you had never paid — same businesses, same order, nobody pushed down and nobody left out. You also still appear in that list, in the same place you would have anyway.
It does not reach the assistant. The AI on this site answers from a knowledge base built out of the listings, and sponsorship is not in that data at all. It is not an instruction the assistant is told to ignore — it is a fact the assistant does not have. It cannot recommend you because you paid, even by mistake.
It does not buy a better listing. Correcting your listing, adding what you do and don't take on, sending a photo — all free, all the same for everyone. Do that here whether you ever buy a slot or not.
Why it's built this way
948 businesses are listed here and none of them asked to be. The only reason that's acceptable is that the listing is a public record rather than an advert — which stops being true the moment money can quietly change what you see. So money is allowed to buy a clearly marked box, and nothing else.
If a slot ever starts to look like a result, it is built wrong and we will hear about it. Tell us.
